Welcome to Cynthia D Quilt and Fabric Studio

Welcome to my Studio. Like most quilters I love to share my work with others... and like most quilters I don't have my own personal gallery. I do, however, know how to build web sites... so I am delighted to welcome you to my virtual studio.

Inside the studio

In my studio you will find a gallery, a workroom and a library. The gallery is my display area. Like most galleries, the displays change and are regularly updated. As I finish new works, they will be displayed. In the workroom you will find examples of works in progress, sketchbook pages of design development, samples of ideas and a little workshop section. Quilting and good food are naturally compatible, and this page shares receipes with you...not my receipes, I should add, but my husband's. You can find the link to the "Chef" at the bottom of the library page or use the links at the top of each page. The library contains a reference section including a display of reference photographs that you are welcome to download for your personal design use. The theme of the display in the library and the workshop change each month, as will the receipes from the Quilters Chef.

About the artist

As you can see, there are two boxes below. The information in both boxes is true but, I think you will agree, contains very different biographical details. I leave it to you to decide which box you read first.

My name is Cynthia Darlington. I am a quilter, fabric designer and (a long time ago) I was a design teacher. I studied and received my design certificate from the National Art School in Sydney, Australia and I am currently working towards a City & Guilds Diploma in Patchwork and Quilting via the internet with quilt artists Linda and Laura Kemshall. My name is Cynthia Darlington. I am a Neuroscientist and a neuroscience writer. I have published over 200 articles in scientific journals and a book, "The Female Brain", was published by Taylor and Francis in 2002. My PhD in Neurophysiology is from the University of Sydney, My research is on the consequences of inner ear damage and the deficits experienced by people who have suffered from such damage, mainly tinnitus and balance disorders.

Time to explore

The best place to start exploring the studio is in the gallery. From there you can follow the links to the workroom and library. On every page, at the top, you will also find links to all the parts of the gallery. This entire site is filled with pictures. Because of the nature of the internet, downloading of images can be very slow. I have made the individual pages small to speed up the process but sometimes a bit of patience may be required.
